Campaigns and causes we're passionate and proactive about

Welcome to World Unite Festival 2017.

A message from Tai and Emma, your Activities and Equality and Diversity Officers:

World Unite Festival has arrived. Starting on 27 February, our annual celebration of our different cultures and identities features a night market, cultural trips and insights into the lives and struggles of students all over the world. World Unite Festival truly gives you a flavour of the immense diversity that LUU and UoL have to offer, all without leaving campus (unless you join one of the trips!).

Our packed schedule will be led by students who identify with the cultures we’re hoping to celebrate here at Leeds University Union. The programme features collaborations from a host of cultural, faith, and welfare societies such as ISOC, LGBT, Malaysian Soc, Romanian soc, and many more...

To find out more, check out the programme below, note the dates in your diary and we’ll see you there!

To find out more information about our World Unite Festival events and activities or to buy tickets and reserve spaces just click on the links below when indicated. Some events do require you to book in advance even if a session is free. You can purchase a ticket via the Leeds University Union website or at the Helpdesk located in the foyer.

University of Leeds Intercultural Ambassadors

Intercultural Ambassadors are student volunteers who create opportunities for people to experience different cultures on campus and in the community. This year, 86 international and UK students from 35 different countries and all study levels received specialised training to enhance their intercultural awareness and project management skills. You can experience the results by coming along to their events during World Unite Festival. They will also be running events with schools and community partners in February and March.

If you want to gain intercultural insights, employability skills and make new friends while inspiring others to get the most out of being part of our global community, why not consider applying to next year’s programme? Recruitment will start in October 2017.  To find out more about what it’s like to volunteer, visit or speak to one of this year’s Ambassadors at their events.

The Intercultural Ambassadors Programme was developed with funding from the Higher Education Academy and is run with support from Santander Universities.
