What is the Community Fund?
The Leeds RAG Community Fund is a collection of money that is distributed in the form of small grants to local Leeds charities who do not benefit from regular donations and who have an annual turnover of £100,000 or less.
The charities themselves apply for these grants and those who are successful are invited to the annual Community Fund Presentation Afternoon in May when we present them with cheques and hear how the money will be spent. Last year we donated £13,886.01 to 25 Leeds charities and groups.
“Your grant has allowed us to really develop and grow the Speech and Language sessions and it is such a hugely important part of the work that we do and we can’t thank you enough.” Sunshine and Smiles (2014 Leeds RAG Community Fund Beneficiary)
“Thank you once again for this grant, it really has made a huge difference to our organisation by supporting us to do more and offer more.” Halton Moor & Osmondthorpe Project for Elders (HOPE) (2014 Leeds RAG Community Fund Beneficiary)

Last year Leeds RAG raised £13,886 for the Community Fund!
The money for the fund is raised through events during RAG week, collection tins around the union and from donations received throughout the year. In the academic year 2014/15 we have plans to increase our fundraising growth with donations from events in Halls, company donations and increased support from the University.
The fund has increased dramatically since 2012 through the generous support from the University of Leeds Libraries. This year the Libraries kindly donated £2000 during RAG Week to support the Community Fund.
Last year we were also lucky enough to receive a donation of £3000 from the University of Leeds Commercial Services, allowing us to help even more charities
Thanks to these generous donations, we have been able to increase the size of grants awarded to charities. This year grants will range from £100-£1000.
