Governance & Trustees

We’re a charity that helps out 30,000 members to love their time at Leeds

Student Trusteeships

Leeds University Union is the union for the 34,000 students at Leeds. With an annual turnover of £10m, and over 500 staff, we offer a wide and exciting range of services to enhance and support the University experience of our members.

We’re looking for two student trustees to join our Board of Trustees, to oversee and guide our future growth and help us achieve our vision of making sure that every student loves their time at Leeds.

By becoming a student trustee you’ll be involved in decision making at the highest level at LUU. This is also a great opportunity to develop employability skills to enhance your CV. We offer full induction and training, as well as mentoring from a senior member of staff during your time with us.

  • Deadline for applications: 24th November 2017
  • Interviews will take place in late November/early December 2017.

Applicants are required to have at least one full year of study left at Leeds to make the most of this opportunity.

LUU’s Board of Trustees recognises that it does not currently represent the diversity of the student population. We therefore welcome applications from Black and Minority Ethnic groups and the LGBT community.

External Trusteeships

Leeds University Union is a multi award-winning charity representing students at the University of Leeds. With a turnover of £10million, around 500 staff and 34,000 students we form one of the biggest student communities in the country. Our awards and accreditations, including being the first Students’ Union in the country to receive the Excellent standard under the NUS’s Quality Students’ Unions accreditation, are signs that we are a high achieving and ambitious organisation.

This is a real time of change for those of us in the Higher Education; the tripling of tuition fees, increasing competition between HE institutions and a growing demand from students for high-quality support and opportunities means that we face new challenges and demands.

As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to be part of a diverse Board providing support and expertise to our work, whilst also collaborating with the Senior Leadership team and other trustees to meet these future challenges and deliver our current and future strategies.

We do not currently have any vacancies for our External Trustee positions, but if you are interested in opportunities we may have available in the future then please send across your CV and details to
