Action Bound is a volunteer run project that takes 8 young carers aged 8-11 out on monthly day trips with 8 volunteers.

Action Bound works closely with a local Barnardo's project which 'supports children and young people who care for a family member affected by a physical or mental health illness, disability or substance misuse problem'

We aim to give them the break they deserve from their everyday caring duties, make sure they have as much fun as possible and most importantly help them to create lasting friendship with children in a similar situation.

Past trips have included Flamingo Land, Laser Quest at Xscape, The Deep Aquarium in Hull, Yorkshire Wildlife Park and many more!

If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to email us at: actionbound@leedsaction.co.uk

To sign up to volunteer on our project, please follow the following steps:

Join Action in three easy steps!

  1. IMPORTANT! Click 'Join this group' above and purchase an "Action-Standard Membership". Don't worry, we've set the purchase price to £0.00! It's completely free to join Action!
  2. Complete a DBS form online at https://gbg.onlinedisclosures.co.uk. To do this you will need to email m.dailey@leeds.ac.uk to get the Leeds University Union "pin" and "secret word". You will also need to provide contact details for two references and original documents to prove your identity and address, which can be verified at the Activities Office in the union - don't worry, this step isn't as complicated as it sounds!
  3. Sign up for any relevant child protection training (only 2.5 hours).

Once all your details have been confirmed you can start signing up for projects on our union webpage. Just check out the events tab. Here you will find a list of all the upcoming projects and all you need to do is "buy" a ticket (all our projects are free!) and then checkout the same as you would do when you "buy" your membership.
