This is an Action project.

Bridge the Gap is a volunteering project that aims to bring some fun to the lives of older people living in a care home in Leeds. We visit every Thursday for an hour to do a range of activities with the residents, such as bingo.
We meet in the Union entrance at 5:15pm and walk down to the care home at 5:30pm.

Our visits are always hugely popular with the residents and this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with the local community and have a positive impact on their lives.

Volunteering with Bridge the Gap is also very easy to fit around your studies as there is no commitment to volunteer every week - you can easily sign up to volunteer in the weeks you are free by clicking on the 'Events' tab at https://www.luu.org.uk/groups/action/

To get involved you must:

1) Become a member of the Action society (this is FREE). Instructions can be found at https://www.luu.org.uk/groups/action/
2) Fill in a DBS form online at https://gbg.onlinedisclosures.co.uk. To do this you will need to email m.dailey@leeds.ac.uk to get the LUU "pin" and "secret word". You will also need to provide contact details for two references (1 professional, 1 personal) and orignial documents to prove your identity and address (e.g. passport and driving license).

Once you have your form back you will be ready to volunteer and you can book your place on an event on the Action LUU page.

If you are interested or have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us at bridgethegap@leedsaction.co.uk

We hope to see you soon!
