Welcome to the LUU Folk Society!

Come and get involved in some of the great things we have going on. Events will be listed in the folk society calendar.

Big Rebel Folk Choir - Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00 Upstairs at The Packhorse Pub (Woodhouse Lane)

Title: Big Rebel Folk Choir 2017 - Description: Choir leaders Harry and Georgie singing 'bout miners with the big rebel folk choir

Run by the amazing Georgie. All voices welcome, no singing experience necessary. We sing the rebellious songs from folk and beyond. We start with some fun physical vocal warm ups, followed by whatever songs take our fancy, and we go from there! Come and say hi!

Tune Workshop and Session Wednesdays 8:00 - 11:00 Downstairs at The Packhorse Pub (Woodhouse Lane)

Title: Tune Workshop - Description: Folk Soc members learning some new tunes in one of our tune workshops at The Packhorse

Free entry session/singaround. We will post any new tunes that we want to play ahead of time so you can have a go at learning them if you’re a musician, and you are welcome to bring songs and tunes of your own. We will play a mixture of new tunes and folk soc favourites!

Ceilidhs, Gigs and Trips - at least two per term

Title: Open mic 2017 - Description: Previous Folk Soc Secretary, Jenny Pudney, playing guitar and singing at the Spring 2017 open mic

We’ll hold at least one open mic night per term, plus ceilidhs so you can dance along to some great folk music. Members will get discounted tickets to various folk gigs around Leeds, and a guaranteed spot at any of our open mic nights.
