Bonjour from the French Society!

We are students (and lovers) of all things French at Leeds Uni!

We give you the chance to meet and socialise with other French students, experience French culture, and be part of a lively and close knit society.

We organise a variety of different events from french food and drink tasting to themed pub crawls, nights out, language practice with natives and the Modern Languages Ball.

We are close to SLAPsoc (Spanish, Latin American and Portuguese) and GermanSoc and often run socials with them too.

If you need to contact French soc about anything in general, contact our president Alex Wooton (ml16alw@leeds.ac.uk) as a first point of contact!

Paris Trip

Every year French Soc organise a Paris weekend trip in December. This year is was super successful and we had such a lovely time socialising with everyone and seeing the sights in Paris.

We organise opportunities to visit all the sights, including La Tour Eiffel, Le Louvre, Les Champs Elysées, Le Notre Dame & much more!

The Paris trip is always extremely popular and places are very limited, so make sure you are a member of French Soc (otherwise you won't be eligible to come along)

If you have any questions regarding Paris, feel free to email our President:

Alex Wootton:  ml16alw@leeds.ac.uk

Upcoming Socials

We hope this year to give you a chance to experience French culture, practise French conversation, try French cuisine, and meet other French students.

Last year we had some amazing socials including many nights out, drinking gin n juice at Revs, the French Christmas meal and our classic Frenchflix n chill.

We have many French socials that we plan to do throughout this semester which include: cheese and wine evenings, more Frenchflix and chill in which the money from the event is going to our charity - médecins sans frontières, nights out at Warehouse, Mission, Bierkeller etc as well as the French play and of course, the Modern Languages Ball!

If you have any ideas or questions about socials with French Soc then feel free to e-mail our social secs:

Lilly Butler ml16e2b@leeds.ac.uk

Melissa Comyns: ml16e2b@leeds.ac.uk

You can also keep up to date with the latest socials on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LeedsFrenchSoc

The Modern Languages Ball is at the end of the second term which has been a great success in the last few years. It is open to all years and is always a sell out occassion with live music, photo booths and photographers!

Sports

French Soc are also involved in sports teams!  We have our own football team and we run the Modern languages netball team! There are plans for fun and casual games in the intramural league every week so you're welcome to come on down so that you can meet and have fun with your course mates and also those from other language courses!

All sports are played for fun, with no emphasis placed on competiveness or ability.

Contact our Sports secs for more information or ideas!
