Welcome to Powerlifting and Weightlifting!

LiftSoc are one of LUU's newest societies and we are all about Powerlifting and Weightlifting! Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned lifter, we provide a supportive environment where everyone can learn from each other. So if you've never picked up a weight before, don't worry, because we're here to help! Make sure you join the Facebook group, so you can keep up to date with events and socials. 

In addition to regular trainings with our professionally qualified coaches, we also run Q&A sessions every few weeks for beginners and intermediates who would like to learn more about equipment needed for powerlifting, programming, nutrition and more. Plus, we've got social events so everyone can have some fun outside the gym and build the supportive community that many of our members love!

                       

Training & Competitions

We currently train on Wednesdays 12-2pm and Saturdays from 10-12 in the small lifting room at The Edge. These sessions are coached by Chris Baldwin, Tom Millbank, and Hannah Topp - all qualified trainers. With interest increasing constantly, we're hoping to add even more training throughout the week and give you the most for your money!

We're the top ranking team in Northern Universities and are hoping to spread that even further. Although we have only been fully formed for just one year we are already one of the largest and strongest clubs within UK Universities. We are affiliated with the Yorkshire and Northeast Powerlifting Federation (YNEPF) and soon to be affiliated with All-England Powerlifting Federation (AEPF). We are also looking to become affiliated with local and national Olympic Weightlifting federations for those of you who are looking to compete in that area.

                                  

Membership

Our membership fee for the entire year costs just £35! This covers the costs of all your training sessions. It's so cheap that it works out to just 40p per hour! Once your membership for the year is paid, training is FREE to attend - with no hidden costs and no session fees.                                      

Your membership fees include the following benefits:

  • Access to our weekly 2 hour coached training sessions: Wednesdays 12 noon - 2pm
  • Access to our weekly 2 hour coached training sessions: Saturdays 10am - 12 noon
  • Compete in YNEPF competitions representing Leeds University
  • Leeds Physiothereapy discount
  • Discounted entry to our internal powerlifting competitions (Semester 1 + 2)
