Saturday Stars runs once a month, taking a group of 8-16 year olds with a range of learning difficulties on fun day trips. This project provides a great opportunity to get experience with young people with learning difficulties whilst having fun on a range of Yorkshire’s best day trips!

This year we planned the following trips:

Semester 1:

12th November - Ponderosa Farm
3rd December - The Christmas Experience

Semester 2:

27th January - Eureka, National Children's Museum
11th March - Creepy Crawlies

We will be back after summer for more volunteering opportunities!

We welcome all volunteers, from first timers to regular monthly attendees! If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to email us at:

It’s very simple to get involved – just three small steps:

  1. Click 'Join this group' on the Action page and purchase an "Action-Standard Membership". Don't worry, we've set the purchase price to £0.00! It's completely free to join Action!
  2. Complete a DBS form online at To do this you will need to email to get the Leeds University Union "pin" and "secret word". You will also need to provide contact details for two references and original documents to prove your identity and address, which can be verified at the Activities Office in the union - don't worry, this step isn't as complicated as it sounds!
  3. Sign up for any relevant child protection training (only 2.5 hours).

Once all your details have been confirmed you can start signing up for projects on our union webpage. Just check out the events tab. Here you will find a list of all the upcoming projects and all you need to do is "buy" a ticket (all our projects are free!) and then checkout the same as you would do when you "buy" your membership.
