Once a year we hope to provide a fun and enjoyable day for older people of our community and students alike, through the lovely theme of a tea party!

The Tea Party will be held for 80-100 older people from the local community. The afternoon will include refreshments and live entertainment provided by University students, as well as a game of bingo.

This year the Tea Party will run on the 15th March (sign ups will be available a few weeks before the 15th March under the Events page!)
The day breaks down as follows -

10:00-11:00 - Decorating the room before the guests arrive

11:00-12:00 - Welcoming the guests to their seats for the Tea Party to start at 11:45/12:00

12:00-13:00 - Showtime! Listen to some musical performances whilst serving some sandwiches, sausage rolls and cake

13:00-14:00 - Time for some games - play sone bingo with the elderly residents,

14:00-15:00 - Thank the guests for coming and take them back to their coaches. Tidy up time.

You can either sign up for a couple of hours or the whole day, its entirely up to you. If you've got a spare hour between lectures or want to dedicate your whole day to the Tea Party, every volunteer will be welcomed regardless of how much or little time they can give.

A great way to get some volunteering experience and try something new and exciting.

This annual event sets out to give older people from the local community the opportunity to socialise with their peers, as well as improving relations with the students of Leeds University.

  • To give older people a chance to mix with all ages, whilst enjoying an afternoon of tea and cake, accompanied by live entertainment from the students.
  • To give students a unique chance to mix with older members of the local community, whilst gaining valuable volunteering experience.
