Leeds Celtics are one of the University of Leeds’ most accomplished sports clubs that boasts over 10 years of award-winning seasons. Cheerleading is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and we’re proud to have already made our mark as the most successful University cheerleading programme in the country.

WHAT IS CHEERLEADING?

Cheerleading is a combination of stunting, tumbling, jumps and dance which enables our athletes to develop their strength, flexibility and overall fitness, we require that our members are hardworking and committed.

OUR TEAMS

Our programme consists of 4 different teams that cater to all ability levels. We have two competitive cheerleading teams (CO-ED Level 3 and All-Girl Level 2), a competitive pom team and a non competitive match team.

LIONS

Lions are a non-compeitive match team which supports the University of Leeds Basketball and American Football teams. Match team is ideal for those who are just starting out with cheerleading, or those who would prefer a non-competitive team. 

Training: Tuesday 6-7pm    or     7-8pm     (+matches on selected Saturdays)

 

PHOENIX

Pom Team

Phoenix is our competitive Pom dance team who are one the countries most successful Uni Pom teams winning  the University National Championship title for 2 years running! Pom incorporates a fast dance routine full of tumbling, kicklines and formation changes.

Training: Friday 5-7pm

 

 

CHEER TEAMS

Our competitive Cheer teams combine their difficult stunting skills with impressive tumbling and dance to produce action-packed routines. Sessions are ran BCU trained All-Star cheerleaders and our award winning routines are taught and choreographed by the creative and highly experienced coaches at Aviator Allstars who are also Celtic and University of Leeds Alumni.

EAGLES 

All Girl Level 2

Eagles are our All- Girl, Level 2 stunt team who have consistently won national championship titles in recent seasons. Eagles are a perfect team to join if you are less experienced in compeititive cheer or do not have as advance tumbling skills. Although their routines are difficult and highly compeititve, some of the Eagles' freshers are completely new to cheerleading!

Training: Monday 8:30-11:30pm

 

GRYPHONS

Co-Ed CO-ED Level 3

Gryphons are our Co-Ed Level 3 stunt team who are the longest running and most awarded CO-ED cheerleading team in the UK. Gryphons are one of the most successful and competitive cheerleading teams in the country and are perfect for more experienced cheerleaders, All-Star cheerleaders and those looking to transfer from gymnastics to cheerleading. Gryphons award-winning routines combine difficult stunts, CO-ED partner stunts and tumbles that show off the talent and strenth of our athletes.

Training: Tuesday 8-10pm                 Thursday 8:30-10:30

                

SOCIALS

Aside from competitions and training, our society is renowned for being one of the most social sports teams in the Univerisity. We host weekly socials every Wednesday to help us bond as a team. From dressing up as lobsters to golf players, our pub crawls, bowling parties and cheer tour are always the highlight of the uni social calendar.
