LUU Irish Dancing Society
The LUU Irish Dancing Society welcomes complete beginners to world champions. We perform, compete and fundraise. But most importantly, we are inclusive and have a great time!
We perform in shows and for the local community. From ABBA to Burlesque to Riverdance!
We raise money throughout the year for Leeds Irish Health and Homes. A local charity which supports elderly people in the community. We perform at their events and annual Ceilidh!
2017/2018 has been our most successful year so far! We have raised over £1,200 for Leeds Irish Health and Homes and competed in our first competition outside of Leeds. We had over 50 members and performed in 7 different venues on St Patricks Day. And to top it off, we won BEST DANCE SOCIETY 2018!!!
GET INVOLVED IN IRISH DANCING
We are extremely proud to have been awarded Best Dance Society 2018 at the Riley Awards. We offer performance opportunities to all abilities throughout the year in dance shows, charity performances and competitions. There are opportunities to volunteer at Brownie/Guide sessions, local schools and Irish Health and Homes events.
We enjoy teaming up with other societies such as Folk and Salsa throughout the year.
Who can join us?
We accept both students inside and outside the University of Leeds, male and female! We have classes to suit all abilities. Complete Beginners Welcome!
We offer a range of socials throughout the year including; theatre trips, meals out, picnics, bingo and bowling! It’s a great way of meeting the whole society, trying something new and making friends!
