University of Leeds Men's Basketball Club (LUUMBC)

The club has three teams that compete competitively in the BUCS championships.

Our first team consists of various internationals and national championship winning players, and finished at the top of BUCS Northern 2B in the 2016/17 season, earning a promotion into BUCS Northern 1B. Following this promotion we aim to build a strong team for the 2017/18 season in order to secure our place in League 1.

If you are an experienced player and would like to join us for pre-season, contact our club President, Peter, at or our 1st Team Captain, Abdul, at for more information.

Our second team also achieved promotion in the 2016/17 season, moving from BUCS Northern 4B into BUCS Northern 3B. The second team consists of experienced and competitive players, with several players hoping to step up into the first team ahead of the coming season.

Our third team competes in BUCS Northern 5B, and consists of passionate players with a more limited level of experience playing basketball. There will be weekly development sessions for players who are new to the sport, with potential for these players to step up into the third team.

We welcome all standards of player and are particularly keen to develop players to compete at higher levels. Members will get to know other students within the club through regular training and socials.

Training Times

1st and 2nd team ONLY - Monday 5-6pm - The Edge Sports Hall 1

All teams - Friday 5-7pm - The Edge Sports Hall 1

3rd team - Wednesday 9pm-10pm - The Edge Sports Hall 1

Additional sessions will be available on an almost daily basis for first and second team players, as court bookings can be made by students as long as the sports hall is available.

Late September/early October. Date and time to be confirmed.

Come find us at the fresher's fair to register your interest and for more information on our welcome sessions.

The club holds socials every wednesday night with various themes and activities, usually at one of our sponsor bars offering cheap drinks and loads of free food. We hold socials with lots of other societies including cheerleaders (who are at every first team game) and the women's team each term!

As a member you will recieve queue jump into various club nights, with plenty of cheap drinks offers!

Our socials aim to create an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone at the club to fortify friendships throughout the society. We want everyone in the club to be involved, meaning we offer a number of sober socials alongside our regular socials where we can bond as a club away from the training and nights out.

The aim is for everyone to feel welcome, from freshers to post-grads, because we believe that the social aspect of a sporting society is vitally important for boosting chemistry between our club members for success on the court.

The club runs an annual tour every Easter to Salou alongside all the other sports teams in the university and many around the country. Enjoy a wild week of nightlife and basketball with teams from around the country. This is a great opportunity to get to know your teammates and you'll be sure to come home with tour blues.

If you have any questions about our socials, contact our social secretary Jordan at
