Competition

The Men's Football Club operates 4 teams that participate in the BUCS league system. Our 1st and 2nd XI’s compete in the 2nd and 3rd tiers (respectively) of the Northern League Section, with the other two teams also competing in BUCS.

Achievements

Northern Conference Cup Runner Up: 2012 (2nd XI)

Northern Premier Division Champions: 2009/10 (1st XI)

Division 1A Champions: 2007/08 (1st XI)

Division 3B Champions: 2009/10 (2nd XI)

Division 5B Champions 2010/11 (3rd XI)

Futsal: Mens North Division 2A Champions 2016/17

Training

Training is held at Weetwood sports facilities on Sunday mornings and evenings, Monday evenings and Tuesday evenings. Futsal trainings takes place on Friday evenings in The Edge Gym. All teams train on the floodlit 3G artificial turf and must wear moulded football boots - metal studs, trainers or astroturf boots are not permitted.

In addition, the club offers two strength and conditioning sessions a week with a qualified fitness instructor at the Edge Sports Centre. 

Coaching

1st Team:  Head Coach - Steve Grimes. Steve has over 10 years of full time coaching experience and is qualified to the UEFA B Coaching Licence standard, amongst other F.A. accrediations. He has worked with the Development Academy at Manchester City FC and is also the Head Coach at the International Academy of Football and Education and the Ultimate Football Coaching Academy.

2nd Team: Head Coach - Simon Armstrong is a highly regarded local coach, who currently holds a UEFA B Licence, numerous F.A. Youth Modules and a Strength & Conditioning Diploma. Simon has 14 years of coaching experience at a variety of ages from under 5 to men's. He has managed at Leeds Carnegie FC, Silsden AFC, Otley Town FC and is the current manager at Ilkley Town FC.

Matches


BUCS matches take place every Wednesday at 2.00pm.

1st XI home fixtures are held at Weetwood, with the remaining teams’ home fixtures held on the performance pitches at Bodington Halls (all grass).

 

Social

In addition to the clubs busy football calendar, the club is committed to providing players with weekly social opportunities. The club organises a Christmas Meal, an end of year Footballer’s Ball, as well as the regular Wednesday night post-match social events with exclusive deals offered to club members.

 

Recruitment

Sign ups for trials take place prior to the first week of term, on the Tuesday and Wednesday of Fresher's Week, at the Freshers Sports Fair.

This year's trials will take place on the Sunday of that week. 

Players who wish to take part in a trial for the club must sign up at the Fresher’s Sports Fair in the Edge Sports Hall during fresher’s week.
