Welcome to the mountaineering and climbing website! If you love the outdoors then this is the place to be, regardless of your level of experience or fitness. On a weekly basis, we boulder and sport climb at the local climbing gyms around Leeds but we also run regular weekend trip to to climbing venues across the UK :)

Regular Meets

--> Wednesdays
-Big Depot from 3pm onwards
-We meet at the Packhorse at 9pm for a rowdy pub social
--> Thursdays
-Yoga 4-5pm (time may vary)
-The Edge 8-10pm

We pride ourself on being a social club, these are some of our annual socials:
--> Otley run to welcome all of our new members
--> Christmas Caley the perfect way to get in the festive spirit
--> LUUMC Ball ending the year on a high
The social secs also organise lots of other fun surprises throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled. As mountaineers we have to know how to try hard but we also know how to get loose and party!

These weekends are a great opportunity to climb outdoors and learn the mystic ways of trad. There's also plenty of drunken tomfoolery in the evenings, although at your own discretion as you will be woken up the president banging on a pan at the crack of dawn the next day! The cost of the trips includes transport, accomodation, an evening meal and breakfast and use of club gear so is fantastic value for money
This year's destinations are Northumberland, North Wales, Glen Coe, Roaches, The Lakes and The Dales. On the Glen Coe trip we do winter mountaineering, so you get the chance to try out climbing with ice axes and crampons, we hire instructors so don't worry if you have no experience (although a good level of fitness is advised) as we hire instructors, this is also why the cost of this trip is slightly higher

Other Meets

People constantly meet up with each other and go to the local climbing gym or hit up a local crag so there's plenty of opportunities to get climbing. Everyone you'll meet will be super friendly so you're bound to make loads of awesome new friends
During Easter and Summer people organise informal trips to top climbing destinations in the world such as Fontainbleau, El Chorro or Magic Wood

Insurance (the boring but important part)

We are a BMC (British Mountaineering Council) affiliated club. Third party insurance is covered in the cost of membership for all outdoor activities throughout the year. If you already have BMC insurance, come and speak to a committee member as we may be able to offer you discounted membership.
