The Music Theatre Society (MT) boasts a history of professional, high-quality shows with intimate casts of circa 10-25 performers. We achieved great recognition of our professionalism and high standards in 2015 with our production of Stephen Sondheim’s Into The Woods being chosen to attend the National Student Drama Festival (NSDF).
We produce two musicals every semester - one large scale production in the beloved Riley and one more intimate production in a different studio space. Not only do we perform musical theatre classics, we are also keen on producing newer musicals creating a fresh vibe within our society.
Most recently MT has staged: Merrily We Roll Along, Little Shop of Horrors, Ghost, pring Awakening, Into the Woods, Spelling Bee and The Addams Family.
We believe every member should be given the chance to reach their full dramatic potential and as our cast sizes are smaller this enables us to develop every member’s performance skills. We give individual attention to every performer placing focus on singing and acting, though we are not shy of a good box step or a classic MT Chevron!
Not only do we produce fantastic shows we also love a good social and can be regularly found busting some moves at Fruity every Friday. Other socials take place throughout the year leading towards our final social of the year the MT Holiday! Being part of an MT show not only gives you performance experience but also welcomes you into the MT family.
