We are LUU Sign Language Society! We currently have a society meeting every Wednesday evening from 7 - 8 pm in 2018/19 where we aim to teach sign language to complete beginners and, also, allow those who know sign language to practice and expand vocab.
Come and see us at the International Students' Fair on Thursday 20th September 2018 in the big Marquee from 10am onwards and the Freshers Fair on Tuesday 25th September 2018 from 10am onwards for more information or a taster. Why not ask us to teach you your name in sign!
In addition, we run a Level 1 British Sign Language course, which starts in October, for those who would like an official qualification in sign language. The course is run by a fully qualified BSL teacher and is subsidised by the society. You can sign up for this at our GIAG session which will take place on 2nd October 2018 from 7pm to 8pm in Leeds University Business School G.02.
2014 was the first year we offered Level 2 for those who already had the Level 1 qualification and we have been running it for the past three years with great success!
We are also proud to say we recieved the Riley Award for Best Give It A Go 2017 and the Riley Award for Most Improved 2017!
We run various socials throughout the year including nights-out, BBQs, bowling, sign language themed easter egg hunts and lots more so there's something for everyone! Check out our Facebook group: Leeds Sign Society, our Twitter @LUUSLS or our instagram @luusignlanguage for upcoming events.
