About the Club

LUU Women's Lacrosse Club is a friendly and fun society which welcomes players of all abilities. We have two teams competing in BUCS leagues, and also run a full developmental programme for players who want to try out the sport for the first time or pick it up again. We value the social aspect of our club, and bring together members from all levels to have fun and create a tight-knit community of players.

Both our 1st and 2nd teams play in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) League every Wednesday, always obtaining excellent results, with the 1sts currently competing in the Northern 1A and the 2nds in the Northern 3B. We also participate in the BUCS Cup and Trophy, with both of our performance teams having reached the Quarter Finals or above for the last 3 years.

As a club, we welcome players of all abilities and have a Beginners and Development programme for any players wanting to try out the sport, even if they have never played before. Here, player progression into the squad is encouraged and facilitated (more details on our Beginners and Development programme below).

We hold huge weekly socials on Wednesday nights after our matches, offering fab fancy dress themes and joint socials with other sports societies. Our social calendar includes big Christmas, Easter and End of Year gatherings, as well as the newly-established Lacrosse Ball as one not to be missed, and tour during the Easter holidays.

Membership fees are paid for at the beginning of term after team trials have taken place. There is a price for Team players and another for the Beginners and Development Squad members, as well as a separate membership fee for Mixed Lacrosse players.

Beginners & Development Programme

As mentioned above, as well as our two BUCS teams we have a Beginner’s squad for those who have never played before and a Development squad for those who have had 1 or more years of experience. Both squads have their own dedicated coach to aid development of basic lacrosse skills and playing knowledge. We encourage players of any standard to join our club and aim to offer a fun activity for those seeking less serious competition with our B&D programme, although player progression is promoted and facilitated for those keen and able.
