Poor vision can seriously affect your potential to learn so it is important to get your eyes checked. You should register with your on campus opticians in Leeds University Union when you arrive in Leeds. UniVision Opticians encourages all students to include an eye examination in their 'Freshers' or 'Back to Uni' checklist, so that every new term involves a routine eye health check. This ensures that your vision is always safeguarded and cared for.
All students under 19 are entitled to a free, NHS funded eye examination. If you are 19 or over and in full-time education, you may still eligible for a fully funded, free eye examination. All you need to do is complete an HC1 form which is available in the practice. A member of the Univision team will be happy to help you fill one out.
For more information please see the NHS HC11 Help with health care leaflet and the NHS help with health costs website.
The NHS website has more information about eye health.
