Career Staff or Student Staff?

Around 150 people work in careers role at Leeds University Union. These people tend to work all year round in both full and part time positions. Some of our Career staff have been here a few weeks; some have worked here 26 years.  There’s no telling how long you’ll choose to stick around! If you join us in a career role, your salary will be paid once a month and you’ll enjoy 40.5 days holiday per year.

Around 400 people work in our commercial outlets, member services and central support teams. These roles are usually held by students at the University of Leeds who want a part-time job to fit around their studies. They also want to develop as much as possible whilst they are with us, equipping themselves with skills for the future. If you join us as a student employee, you are most likely to work flexibly and term-time only. You will be paid once a week based on the hours you have worked.

Our typical application route is:

  1. Apply to work for Leeds University Union
  2. Receive an acknowledgement of your application (if applying by email)
  3. Shortlisting decision made*
  4. Invite to interview or assessment centre
  5. Offer or decline email will be sent within 5 working days
