Idea Title:

Should we reduce the tuition fee for international students' placement year?

What the idea is about:

I want to reduce industrial year's tuition fee for international students.

Why have you proposed it?:

1. I am currently doing my placement year as an international student and I do not think I have benefited a lot from university. I am not using facilities, have very limited contact with my tutor and the only I am using is probably the portal. So I think 4,000 GBP is way too high for me to go  for a placement.

2. A too high tuition fee directly affect an international student to choose not go for a placement even if he has got an offer, not even if it is for a NGO work or public work. However, if the fee is low then the student might go for the placement and get more employed. Also Leeds is a very international-friendly city and has plenty of NGO work opportunities to achieve its mission to be a diverse and vivid city in 2020. If the fee is too high for international students to afford, then students will be discouraged to take part in low-paid NGO work or public work and will make a less positive impact on society.
