We're the students' union of 30,000 students at Leeds University. Our clubs, bars and events are essential to student life!
Any student can submit an Idea to change the Union, the University or the City of Leeds. All submitted ideas go to a forum meeting to be decided on. If the student panel can't reach a 75% consensus either way, the idea will go to a campus-wide vote to let you decide.

Should LUU campaign for a transition to zero-emission buses in Leeds?
Revised Idea Title: Should LUU campaign for a transition to zero-emission buses in Leeds?
Idea Title [at Forum]: Should LUU Lobby First Bus to Transition to a Zero-Emission Fleet?
What the idea is about:
I want LUU to campaign for a transition to zero-emission buses, powered by renewable energy, in Leeds.
Why have you proposed it?:
Students in Leeds are frequently exposed to illegal levels of air pollution. Diesel fumes cause cancer. Cyclists are exceptionally vulnerable to diesel fumes when cycling behind buses. Pedestrians are also vulnerable on frequent bus routes with little separation between road and sidewalk. Air pollution kills 40,000 people in the UK every year. We need to do more to combat climate change.
The current plan of FirstBus to transition to “clean” diesel buses is not enough.
